It's time to climb into the vehicles, drink hot chocolate (and then hunt for a portable potty) and crane your necks in the dark. The Lightpatch Christmas Lights page is there to browse and is being updated almost daily. I added the pop-up portion of Christmas fun last year and am repeating that feature. Go have a look and then enjoy the light displays near you. If you find a great one I left out, do let me know.

Christmas lights displays
Other writing is somewhat on hold from this corner while our web site is listing special light displays in the USA. Many locations have bins for charitable donations. To check out the list, go to Christmas Lights.
If you know of a particularly impressive display, please let me know and I'll include them in the list. (We don't usually list private light tours, such as those from limousine companies.)

Looking forward to lights
Fair warning. If you loathe talk about Christmas as early as October you will want to skip this post. I've begun updating the site with the holiday light displays I'll be doing more updates throughout the season, so check back there once in awhile. For more information about where to see lights, head over to Christmas Lights.

It's the economy, you smart people.
The October issue is alive and online: Deb's Monthly Review. You can find some great festivals to attend, plus there are listings of other US events. There are fancier sites out there with claims of comprehensive information. Many of them operate from a database. Many of them charge you for a membership to view more than a small portion of their information. I'm a bit more focused on providing people with options for travel (and for local fun). And I love pointing out the great features of the cities and towns across the America, where our cultures local history present a rich opportunity to enjoy celebrating food, music, art, folklore, tradition, working men and women and the cutting edge of science. Festival celebrations touch all these areas of American life, and more.
This is probably the closest to ad copy I've ever written on this blog. But I believe in what I've been doing and I hope you'll check out the festivals and then go have some cotton candy or a caramel apple, see what the crafters are making these days and maybe sway to the music of the bands. And here's something else to consider. Your presence at festivals could be just as important to the economic climate as a bank bailout or a home foreclosure. And a lot more fun for you.
